The River's Getting Dry

Dear readers,

I don't know how to say it but I'm getting a bit tired, abit lazy, a bit ditracted, and this blog hasn't been active for a few weeks now.

Lack of inspiration ? Weak feedback compared to the amount of work provided ? Too much time spent on my computer ? Need to take a new life turn, to be more open to real people, find a better job, try to make more music ? Yes, all these things, and a lot more.

I'm working on other musical projects, like building a big anthology of french chanson and pop since 1945. I'll probably open a new blog about that.

So I'm gonna make a break. Will it be goodbye or farewell ? Well, goodbye only.

In fact I don't know. Maybe I will come back tomorrow, maybe in a month, maybe never. I want to break the one post per week routine.

Anyway, I'll still be posting on Groover's Paradise (in English), and L'Appel de la rivière (French).

Untill then here's a great song by one of my favorite French singers, Henri Salvador.

Anyway, if it's my last post, I want to thank you all for your presence, (too rare) comments and faithfullness.

Henri Salvador - Dans mon île (buy) (1958)

I completely understand where you are coming from. You sound just like me when I gave up my blog. I'm sure you enjoyed it and learned a lot. It's really hard to keep coming up with new ideas and new energy, especially when the feedback gets light. I just want you to know that I've enjoyed your posts and should have commented to that effect before now.

I'm sure your desire to post will come back after a nice break.

Well, thanks for the memories and all that crap. It's been a nice blog with some entertaining, earnest, and informative posts. Also, thanks for the mention in your "Before country" post - I am now famous on the Internet!

Have fun with any subsequent adventures in internet.

Yes, I also completely understand where you're coming from, and I've done similar moves for similar reasons before (and likely will again). Enjoy your break! And thanks for your terrific blog, though I haven't visited as much as I ought've

Sorry the River's getting dry. I've enjoyed your posts, even though I've not commented. Your covers on the last two posts are on my ipod. I hope you know that your blog has been enjoyed by a lot of invisibles like me.

All the best, hope to hear from you again.

Hi, Nicolas, I just write to ask you something (if you don't mind): don’t close definitely your blog. It’s too good to end it. Take your time, probably you don’t need to write so often, but come back now and then. I know that it’s disheartening to see the difference of the work (and the love!) that you put on it and the lukewarm feed-back you get. McCartney wasn’t right when he said “And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make”. In a world with justice this kind of richly detailed works should obtain more repercussion, but we all know that it's discouraging to see the stupid things that got wide repercussion today. But, Nic, don’t give up, the best part of it all is in the making itself. And the most important is doing something that you’re proud of it. And you can be absolutely proud of your blog.

Just wanted to say a big thanks for your effort. I have been using your blog as a source of inspiration. What I listen to form day to day changes with the sound of something different here or there! And I've been spotifying lots of things form your blog and listening to the posted songs.

I'm form London, but off to the states soon for a drive from LA to NYc through all the southern states, so there will be a few names I'll be looking up on route.

Good luck with your life turn! Jonny.

I'm not sure you will even see this comment but this last post - I get it. It saddens me. By this time I can only wonder if any rain has begun to refresh and fill the river... I understand if not.

I look forward to reading your blog. I'm bookmarking it.

I hope your life is better. I experienced the same and still have hope for more rains. I believe they're coming.

Keep your head up.
